our startup self™ Program
Our flagship StartUp Self™ program takes participants step-by-step through the process of planning a socially responsible small business or social-profit enterprise. Building on the fundamentals of financial literacy, we cover the practical aspects of business, offer girls the opportunity to take ownership over their ideas, and empower them to take initiative.
StartUp Self™ workshops explore how individuals and organizations of all kinds must set goals, generate revenue, and allocate resources to meet those goals. This exposes girls to the rationale for developing businesses, voting, investing, and consuming based on their values. Girls are also encouraged to embrace the underlying importance of financial models before jumping into the 'creative' side of brand marketing. A strong emphasis is placed on the many pathways to funding new ventures.
This interactive program incorporates a variety of technology-based tools and is designed to improve girls' digital literacy.
The StartUp Self™ program can be delivered in a series of six two-hour sessions or in a two-day workshop format.
ambiSHEous works with diverse organizations to deliver programming and it's easier that you think! From schools and sports teams and corporate sector or community-based organizations, we'll work together to design just the right experience for your group of go-getter girls.
If you or your organization is interested in collaborating to inspire and empower girls in a new and different way, please contact us to discuss.
Keep your eyes peeled for our fee-based weekend events, open to the public. Typically, these special StartUp Self™ sessions take place in a professional setting and offer participating girls an inside look into some of Ottawa's most interesting and productive workplaces. Supported by a growing community of women dedicated to a more equitable future, girls will work closely with high-calibre volunteer mentors. We also work hard to make our programs accessible, so contact us to learn more about scholarships for these fee-based public sessions.
